Nadir

In aerial photography or satellite imagery, the point on the ground vertically beneath the perspective center of the camera lens or scanner’s detectors.


Near range

Refers to the portion of a radar image closest to the satellite flight path.


Near-Real Time (NRT)

Data that is available for use less than 3 hours after the time of observation.

Effective backscattering area of a surface in case of plane microwave radiation incident on a scattering object or a scattering medium. It is computed as the ratio of the intensity scattered back in the direction toward the source and the incident irradiance from the source.
